Leadership Presence: Why Does Body Language Matter?
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
In our “Leadership Presence” series this week, we will focus on Posture and Body Language and how these key factors play into your leadership.
Keep the things we've learned about leadership presence in mind even this week as you gather for Thanksgiving. There are many opportunities to display uncommon leadership!
Happy Thanksgiving Week!
Your Sunday Nugget
This Week's Question:
What does my posture and body language project?
This Week's Challenge:
Studies have reported that as much as 80% of what we communicate comes from our posture, body language and facial expression. We are communicating something when we slouch, frown or lean.
This week, your challenge is to take note of your default posture, facial expression and body language. Do these currently project professional and positive leadership? If not, try to be more aware and tweak what you need to. It might simply be to smile more (I need this one!) or not slouching as much. Whatever it is. practice making adjustments.
This Week's Quote to Ponder:
“Body language is a very powerful tool. We had body language before we had speech, and apparently, 80% of what you understand in a conversation is read through the body, not the words.” - Deborah Bull
Until next week,
