Don't Settle
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
Happy Sunday!
The new week brings new opportunities to encourage, inspire, and influence those around you.
Make it count. Make it uncommon! Have a great week ahead!
This Week's Question:
How do you know if you are “settling” in your leadership or engagement?
This Week's Challenge:
Human nature tends to drift toward comfort.
We settle into routines. We stick with what we know. We stop pushing ourselves quite as hard.
And if we’re not careful, we can slowly begin to settle in our leadership too.
Not all at once.
Just little by little.
But if you’re like me, you don’t want to plateau. You don’t want to lose your edge, your hunger, or your engagement.
So how do we know if we’re settling?
Here are three questions I’ve been reflecting on lately:
- Am I willing to accept lower standards than I used to? Things that once bothered us no longer do. Excellence slips quietly if we let it.
- What new thing have I learned lately?
Growing leaders stay curious. Settling leaders stop learning. - Am I stuck in long-term routines?
Routines can be healthy—but they can also become ruts if we stop challenging ourselves.
Settling is dangerous because it often feels comfortable. But comfort rarely leads to growth, innovation, or uncommon influence.
Your challenge this week:
Ask yourself those three questions honestly.
Then identify one area where you may have drifted into comfort—and take one intentional step to re-engage and grow.
Because uncommon leaders don’t coast.
They stay sharp. They stay curious. They stay engaged.
Have a great week. Let’s go be Uncommon.
This Week's Quote to Ponder:
“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.”- Benjamin Franklin
