Investing Your Time

Dear Uncommon Leaders,

I hope you all are enjoying a nice Memorial Day Weekend and unofficial kickoff to summer! 🇺🇸😎

Invest your time wisely this week! 🕓

Go be uncommon!

This Week's Question:

Do you look for opportunities to invest your time?

This Week's Challenge:

The word invest carries a powerful implication—a return. When we invest money, we’re hoping for growth, a payoff. What if we thought the same way about our time?

As I write this, I’m sitting in an airport headed to a training class to sharpen my public speaking and presentation skills. It’s a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and I’m missing time with my family. So why am I going? Because I want to get better. I want to increase my impact and grow my business. It’s not just time spent—it’s time invested... and I’m expecting a return.

When we invest our time intentionally—especially in learning or skill development—we raise our value. We open doors. We expand our potential.

There are many smart ways to invest your time as a leader. Here are just a few:

  • Building strategic relationships
  • Coaching or training a team member
  • Writing helpful content
  • Designing or improving a system
  • Organizing your workspace to increase clarity and flow

You can probably add your own to this list. The point is: leaders don’t just spend time—they invest it. They treat it like a resource that can multiply their influence.

Your challenge this week:
Find one way to invest your time. Don’t wait for the perfect moment—make it happen. Then, take note of how it feels and what it begins to return.

I’d love to hear how you choose to invest.

Have a great week!

This Week's Quote to Ponder:
