Sharpening Your Leadership
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
I am live from The Approach this morning and had a few thoughts I wanted to share with you in this special edition of Your Sunday Nugget™.
Surround yourselves with the right people and use every opportunity to grow!
Keep being uncommon, Leaders! 👊
This Week's Question:
Who around you could sharpen you if you leaned in?
This Week's Challenge:
This week, I have been at The Approach—a Chick-fil-A event for Operators and Talent Leaders.
It had been a few years since I’d been at a Chick-fil-A event like that, and honestly, I have been overwhelmed—in the best way.
The talent in the room is uncommon.
Leaders who are driven. Focused. Hungry to grow.
Just being around them has lifted me. It reminded me why I do what I do.
It also reminded me of something simple, but powerful:
Often what we need to grow… is already around us.
Other people.
People of character.
People with experience.
People who see things differently. People who are willing to help.
And yet, we can miss it. We stay in our routines. We don’t engage. We don’t ask. We don’t lean in.
Your challenge this week:
Identify someone around you who can help you grow—just through conversation and connection.
- Be bold—start the conversation.
- Ask thoughtful questions.
- Observe how they think and lead.
- And if you’re really serious about growth—ask for feedback.
Too often, leaders spend all their time pouring into others and forget they need to be poured into as well.
Who’s doing that for you?
Books are great. Podcasts are great.
But don’t underestimate the power of being around the right people.
Let’s go be Uncommon.
This Week's Quote to Ponder:
“The greatest leaders share one commonality: the power of the others in their lives.” - Henry Cloud, The Power of the Other
Until next week,
LET'S GO BE UNCOMMON!
