Team Culture
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
Summer is in full swing! Hope everyone had a happy 4th of July and a great holiday weekend! ☀️🇺🇸🎇
As you head into this new month and week, be intentional about the culture you are creating in your organization.
Have a great week ahead!
This Week's Question:
How intentional are you about protecting and feeding your team culture?
This Week's Challenge:
Every team has a culture.
The question is whether we’re intentionally shaping it—or simply letting it exist.
Culture rarely stays the same. If we’re not careful, it naturally drifts in the wrong direction.
Healthy cultures require intentional investment. We feed them with encouragement, recognition, trust, and high standards. At the same time, we protect them by addressing negativity, gossip, complacency, and unhealthy behaviors before they weaken what we’ve worked so hard to build.
The culture we’ll experience tomorrow is being created by the conversations we have and the decisions we make today.
If I’m honest, I’ve often failed to stay tuned in to our culture because of distraction and busyness. It’s easy to become so focused on the work that we neglect the environment in which the work gets done.
Healthy cultures don’t maintain themselves.
We have to listen.
We have to observe.
We have to take action.
That’s what great leaders do.
Your challenge this week:
Take a fresh look at your team’s culture. Slow down long enough to really observe it.
Ask yourself:
- What are we doing that is making our culture healthier?
- What am I tolerating that is making it weaker?
- What’s one thing I can do this week to intentionally invest in our culture?
Great cultures don’t happen by accident.
They are built, fed, and protected every single day.
Let’s go be Uncommon.
This Week's Quote to Ponder:
“The culture of a workplace—an organization’s values, norms, and practices—has a huge impact on our happiness and success.” - Adam Grant
Until next week,
LET'S GO BE UNCOMMON!
