This Week's Question:

Is team member retention data top of mind for you and your leadership team?

This Week's Challenge: 

As a business owner, retention is something I know pays off in multiple ways but it’s a metric that often doesn’t make it to KPI (Key Performance Indicator) level. We put sales, profit and customer experience data in front of our teams but doesn’t team member retention help drive those results? Could it possibly be the most important leading indicator of excellent performance? Hmmm….maybe I’ve been focused on the wrong data to track and set goals around.

In re-thinking the metrics that give the best reflection of my leadership and my team’s leadership, I believe retention data should be a front and center focus. We can impact it with better leadership, effective training, regular recognition and having a compelling purpose and vision for our business.

Over the next few weeks your challenge is to make retention more of a focus. A recommendation is to simply review your data and set a goal to improve it.  Once you do this, then we can focus on specific strategies to reach your goal.
