The Quiet Team Members
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
Happy Spring! It's a new season! 🌤️👏
As you move into the new, continue to be intentional in your leadership.
Have a great week, Leaders!
This Week's Question:
Are you paying attention to who’s quiet on your team?
This Week's Challenge:
Not everyone on your team is loud.
Not everyone speaks up in meetings.
Not everyone raises their hand when something’s wrong.
But that doesn’t mean they don’t have something to say.
In fact, I’ve found that some of the quietest people on a team are often carrying the most—ideas, concerns, pressure, or even personal challenges.
As leaders, it’s easy to give most of our attention to the most vocal people. They’re visible. They’re often loud.
But uncommon leaders also pay attention to the ones who aren’t as visible.
They notice the quieter team member.
They encourage them to speak up.
They ask a few extra questions.
They let them know their voice matters.
Sometimes the greatest leadership moment of your week might be simply pulling someone aside and saying,
“Hey, I haven’t heard much from you lately—how are you doing?”
That one question can unlock trust, insight, and connection.
Your challenge this week:
Identify someone on your team who tends to stay quiet.
Go out of your way to connect with them. Ask a thoughtful question. Listen fully.
You might discover something important.
And more importantly—you might make someone feel seen.
Let’s go be Uncommon.
This Week's Quote to Ponder:
“The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t said.” - Peter Drucker
Until next week,
LET'S GO BE UNCOMMON!
