Unexpected Storms
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
Hope you all had a great weekend! I'm sure you're all gearing up for the holidays! 🎄
Be uncommon this week. 👊⤴️
This Week's Question:
Are you prepared for the storms that affect leaders?
This Week's Challenge:
Leadership isn’t always sunshine and momentum. Sometimes, it’s leaning into headwinds, heavy pressure, and unexpected storms.
Every leader faces them:
- A team member unexpectedly quits
- A major initiative fails
- The numbers aren’t where they should be
- A letter from a lawyer arrives
- A false accusation is made
- A legitimate accusation is made
These are all things we face as leaders, right? The question isn’t if storms will come—but how prepared are you when they do?
Storms test your systems, your mindset, your habits and even your identity. They expose where you’re anchored—and where you’re not.
Your challenge this week:
Reflect on the last storm you faced in your leadership.
- How did you respond?
- What or who held you steady?
- What did it reveal about your current leadership structure or support system?
- What aspects of your leadership need to get stronger?
And then ask yourself:
What can I strengthen now so I’m better prepared for the next storm?
Resilience, preparation, and self-awareness are marks of an Uncommon leader.
Let’s lead well—even when the clouds roll in. Anyone can lead when it’s 70 degrees and sunny, but when the storm rolls in, the uncommon step up.
Have a great week!
This Week's Quote to Ponder:
“The true test of leadership is how well you function in a crisis.” - Brian Tracy
