Using Your Voice Wisely

Dear Uncommon Leaders,

Happy Easter! We hope you had a great weekend and a very special holiday with your families and loved ones.

Here’s to continued growth this week! Stay uncommon!

This Week's Question:

Do you need to speak up more often—or “bite your tongue” more often?

This Week's Challenge:

Leaders are a diverse group. Different personalities. Different styles. Different tendencies.

My team and I are around large groups of leaders often, and the range is always interesting.

Some leaders rarely speak up. They hold back. They hesitate.

Others… well, they have no problem jumping in—and sometimes staying in.

Most of us fall somewhere in between.

So where are you?

Do you need to be a little braver and use your voice more often?

Or do you need to tap the brakes and think before you speak?

I often tell leaders: you can’t run a silent shift.

People need to hear the leader’s voice.

But I’ve also seen leaders dominate conversations—speaking too quickly, too often, without enough thought or awareness.

Please understand:

Your words matter. Your voice matters.

And great leaders learn how to use both wisely—sometimes more, sometimes less.

Your challenge this week:

Figure out which way you need to lean.

If you’re not sure, ask someone you trust:

“Do I talk too much—or not enough? Be honest. I want to get better.”

Then listen. Adjust. Grow.

Because the voice of the leader has power—make sure you’re using yours well.

Have a great week. Let’s go be Uncommon.

This Week's Quote to Ponder:

"Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." - Winston Churchill

Until next week,

LET'S GO BE UNCOMMON!
