White Space
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
Welcome to February (and Happy Groundhog Day)!
Hope you had a great weekend and are ready for a productive week ahead! Challenge yourselves this week!
Your Sunday Nugget
This Week's Question:
Do you ever schedule white space in your calendar?
This Week's Challenge:
White space is time set aside without much structure attached to it. It is not necessarily a time to work on our to-dos or get caught up. White space is time scheduled to allow us to get creative, think or even sometimes rest our minds from the frequent overload.
Whenever I have scheduled white space and followed through in taking it, I have always found benefit. Often, I am surprised at what comes from it. Sometimes I receive a burst of inspiration or a solution to a problem. Sometimes my mind recharges from the quiet.
Most busy leaders don't set aside time to just think and de-compress.That’s your challenge this week. I don’t care if it’s only 10 minutes; put some white space in your calendar and find a quiet space where you won't be distracted or interrupted. Avoid the temptation to scroll or surf. In fact, turn your phone off and take a notebook to capture your thoughts. I’d love to hear what comes from it!
Have a great week!
This Week's Quote to Ponder:
“A lack of white space on one’s calendar correlates with a lack of white space in one’s brain.” - Matt Perman
