Energy and Passion at Work

Dear Uncommon Leaders, 

We hope you each had a great weekend!

We're wrapping up September and heading into a new month this coming week.

Make it intentional, and make it uncommon!

This Week's Question: 

What part of your job floods you with energy and passion?

This Week's Challenge: 

Recently, I've had to do a wide variety of things across my companies.

Some of those tasks had little to no impact on my energy or passion.

Some actually drained me of both. Ugh!

But a few completely flooded my spirit with energy, passion, and optimism.

During one of those moments, I remember thinking:

“I was created to do more of this.”

What does that for you?

Let's face it, work is hard. It probably always will include things that drain us a little—and sometimes a lot.

We can't simply eliminate everything we don't enjoy.

But I believe we should pay close attention to the work that does two things:

It makes a meaningful impact on our organization AND it brings us energy.

When those two things come together, we've probably discovered something worth doing more of.

If we're not intentionally looking for those high-impact, high-energy activities, we can find ourselves on a long and draining journey.

Your challenge this week:

Hunt for the activities that flood you with energy and passion while also making a difference for your organization.

What are you doing when you feel most alive, engaged, and useful?

And then ask yourself:

How can I do more of that?

Life's too short not to do more of what we were created to do—and use it to lift the people and teams around us.
