Fueling Yourself as a Leader
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
Welcome to May! As always, a new month brings new opportunities to keep pursuing, and achieving, your goals.
Make the most of this month! Have a great week ahead!
This Week's Question:
Are you fueling yourself nutritionally to have the energy you need as a leader?
This Week's Challenge:
I recently read an article about Clint Eastwood. At 95 years old, his son shared something that stuck with me:
"Dad doesn’t eat for pleasure—he eats for fuel."
He follows what he calls the 90/10 rule—90% of what he eats is for energy, health, and performance… and 10% is for enjoyment.
If I’m honest, I think many of us have flipped that.
I know I have.
I love donuts. Blueberry muffins. Fried chicken. Waffle fries. 😃 And just about everything we’re surrounded with every day. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized something important:
If I want the energy to lead at a high level, I have to be more intentional about what I put in my body.
This is a process for me. I recently entered a whole new age decade this month, and I’ve decided to carry a simple mantra into this next season:
“Eat a little better. Eat a little less.”
Nothing extreme. Nothing complicated. Just a steady commitment to fueling myself better so I can lead better.
Because energy matters.
And what we put in directly impacts what we can put out.
Your challenge this week:
Pay attention to what you’re putting in your body.
Can you eat a little better?
Maybe it’s swapping out some unhealthy choices for healthier ones.
Maybe it’s cutting back on excess calories—or for some of you, increasing them to fuel your energy better.
Start small. Be intentional. See what changes.
Try it this week and see if it shows up in your energy, your focus, and your leadership.
Let’s go be Uncommon.
This Week's Quote to Ponder:
“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” - Jim Rohn
