Leading Through Wacky Days

We all have those days when nothing seems to go according to plan. We hope you are inspired and challenged to reflect on how show up in leadership during these times.

This Week's Question: 

How do you respond to a “wacky” day?

This Week's Challenge: 

I remember a book we used to read to our kids called Wacky Wednesday.

The entire premise was that this particular Wednesday was just a little off. Weird things were happening for no apparent reason, and as the day went on, things just kept getting wackier.

I've thought about that book many times because I've had plenty of my own Wacky Wednesdays—or Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays...

Sometimes it's a string of small, silly things outside of my control that throws the day off.

Sometimes I'm just not the best version of myself and actually help make the day wacky!

And occasionally, out of nowhere, a day just completely implodes into wacky beyond all get-out.

Let's face it: some days just aren't going to go the way we planned.

When we're trying to make progress, reach goals, lead people, and make an impact, a wacky day can easily knock us off track.

But does it have to?

I believe how we respond to the wacky reveals a lot about our leadership, maturity, creativity, and self-control.

We don't always get to choose what happens around us.

We do get to choose how we show up in the middle of it.

Your challenge this week:

Think about your last “Wacky Wednesday.”

Are you proud of how you showed up and responded?

Or are there some adjustments you'd like to make before the next one?

Because it's coming. I promise!

Let's be ready to rise up and be uncommon the next time one of those challenging days rears its wacky head.

I believe the most uncommon leaders can turn the wacky into WOW!
