Meaningful Conversations
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
As our clocks spring forward, it's an invitation for us as leaders to do the same. This season, take the opportunity to create momentum and help your teams step confidently into what’s next!
As always, have an uncommon week!
This Week's Question:
Are you having shallow conversations with those you lead—or deepones?
This Week's Challenge:
It’s easy to stay in the shallow end.
“How are you?”
“How was your weekend?”
“Crazy weather lately…”
There’s nothing wrong with those conversations. They build familiarity. But they rarely build influence.
Deeper conversations sound different:
- What do you really want to accomplish this year?
- What’s been weighing on you lately?
- What are you most excited—or most afraid—about right now?
The best leaders are willing to go there.
Because if we truly want to impact the lives of the people we lead, we can’t live in the shallow end forever. Real influence happens in the deep stuff—where dreams, fears, frustrations, and purpose live.
Yes, it can feel uncomfortable.
Yes, it requires vulnerability.
But life is too short for surface-level leadership.
Your challenge this week:
Go one level deeper with someone you lead.
Ask a question that moves past small talk.
Listen longer than feels normal.
Care more than expected.
That’s where Uncommon influence happens.
Have an Uncommon week of meaningful conversations.
Let’s go be Uncommon.
This Week's Quote to Ponder:
“To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved.” - George MacDonald
Until next week,
LET'S GO BE UNCOMMON!
