Students are slowly beginning to return to school, which means fall is right around the corner.

Let's keep moving forward and finish the summer season out strong!

This Week's Question:

What filters do you use to prioritize?

This Week's Challenge: 

Like last week, we’re looking at another attribute of being a Playmaker.

The best playmakers don’t just see the floor and take in what’s happening around them—they quickly determine what matters mostand what to do next.

That’s leadership too.

The busier I’ve become, the more challenging prioritization has become. There will always be more things to do, opportunities to pursue, and problems to solve than we have time for.

That’s why we need filters.

One of the best filters we can use is our core values—beliefs we’re so committed to that they actually drive our behavior and decisions.

One of the first core values I remember from early in my Chick-fil-A career was simple:

Customers First.

We used it over and over to help make decisions. When there were multiple directions we could go, we could ask:

“Which choice puts the customer first?”

That simple filter brought clarity.

As leaders, we’re constantly presented with competing priorities. We can’t do everything, and everything can’t be most important.

So we need filters that help us decide what gets our attention.

Your challenge this week:

Identify one filter you can use to help prioritize everything coming at you.

Maybe it’s a core value.

Maybe it’s your purpose.

Maybe it’s your most important goal.

Whatever it is, get clear on it and use it.
