Talent That Stretches You

Dear Uncommon Leaders,

How was your weekend? Are you ready for a new week?

Stretch your leadership this week! Go be uncommon! 👊

This Week's Question:

Do you attract or surround yourself with talent that stretches you?

This Week's Challenge:

The safe thing to do as a leader is to build a team that’s easy to lead—people who follow instructions, stay in their lane, and don’t push back too much.

But “safe” isn’t Uncommon—and it won’t take you or your organization where you want to go.

If you want to grow, you need to surround yourself with people who challenge you. People who are smarter in some areas, more disciplined, maybe even more accomplished than you.

That’s not weakness. That’s wisdom.

It takes confidence, humility, and a deep commitment to growth to lead that kind of talent well. But when you get it right? It can become a catalyst for innovation, excellence, and accelerated development—for you and your whole team.

Your challenge this week - Ask yourself honestly:

  • Do you attract talent that pushes you to grow?
  • Are you building a team that stretches your leadership rather than just submits to it?

If not, maybe it’s time to recalibrate.

Safe is common. Growth requires courage.

Let’s go be Uncommon.

This Week's Quote to Ponder:

"It doesn’t make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do." - Steve Jobs

Until next week,

LET'S GO BE UNCOMMON!
