What Are You Tolerating?
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
We hope you all enjoyed your weekend.
As you head into another week, take stock of what might be holding you back from your continued growth and that of your team.
Be uncommon in all you do! Have a great week, Leaders!
This Week's Question:
What are you tolerating that’s holding you back?
This Week's Challenge:
Growth doesn’t always begin with adding something.
Sometimes, it begins with removing what no longer belongs.
That might be a mindset.
A habit.
An outdated process.
Or occasionally… a team member.
I’ll never forget hearing Dr. Henry Cloud say:
“You get what you create and what you tolerate.”
That statement convicted me—and it still does.
Because most leaders know what’s holding back performance. They’ve identified it. They’ve talked about it.
But they often stop short of making the hard call.
Let’s face it—removing broken habits, systems, or people is messy and time-consuming.
But avoiding those decisions usually delays progress and compounds the cost.
Uncommon leaders don’t just lead—they clear the way for others to succeed.
They remove obstacles, excuses, and even cultural toxins that hold their teams back from the next level.
Your challenge this week:
Ask yourself the question:
“What am I tolerating that’s holding us back?"
Ask it more than once. Ask it over time.
And if the same answer keeps surfacing—you probably have a decision to make.
We’ll talk more next week about what to do with those answers.
But for now—name them. Write them down.
Start the process of reclaiming your leadership capacity.
Let’s go be Uncommon.
This Week's Quote to Ponder:
“We get what we create and what we tolerate. - Dr. Henry Cloud
Until next week,
LET'S GO BE UNCOMMON!
