Delegation Check-in's
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
How was your weekend? Are you ready for a new week?
We are closing in on the year, so take every opportunity to be uncommon!
This Week's Question:
Do you check in with the people you delegate to?
This Week's Challenge:
Last week, we talked about the first step of effective delegation: assigning with clarity.
This week, we move to the second step: checking in.
Once you’ve delegated a task or project, your job as a leader isn’t over. The best leaders follow up—not to micromanage, but to supportand ensure progress.
A simple check-in can help you:
- Confirm the person is on track
- Identify gaps in clarity or execution
- Offer help, redirection, or encouragement when needed
Checking in is especially important when the task is complex or new to the person you delegated to. It builds trust, increases accountability, and creates space for growth.
Your challenge this week:
Check in with someone you’ve delegated something to. Ask:
- How’s it going?
- Is anything unclear?
- Is there anything you need from me to succeed?
Small touchpoints can prevent big misunderstandings—and keep momentum moving.
Let’s grow our leadership capacity by delegating well and leading through the follow-up.
Let’s go be Uncommon.
This Week's Quote to Ponder:
“Delegation requires the willingness to pay for short term failures in order to gain long term competency.” - Dave Ramsey
Until next week,
LET'S GO BE UNCOMMON!
